There was a lot of suspense leading up to Melissa and Chad’s big day! At the beginning of the summer north Texas got more rain that we’ve seen in my lifetime. Lakes that used to be dry and cracked where all of the sudden so full that they were flooding roadways, and as it would turn out, they flooded Melissa and Chad’s original venue! After planning for months and months, they had to start over from scratch about two months before their wedding date once it was obvious the place they originally booked wasn’t going to be ready. To see how perfectly things turned out, nobody would have guessed it! Everything was absolutely perfect from the flowers, to the gorgeous rustic venue filled with twinkle lights.

Amanda and Steve’s wedding was one of the most heartfelt, laid back, sincere, awesome days. Not only are they two of the coolest people you’ll meet, but their family and friends that surrounded them that day were just as great! There was no stress, no fuss. Just plenty of love, craft beer, a gourmet food truck, a rocking old timey band, and a big white tent nestled between centuries old oak trees at the French Legation Museum. When storms literally blew in and knocked the power out at the end of their reception, everyone was still joyous and on a high from the love the witnessed and celebrated that day. To top it all off, I got to have one of my favorite people ever there to second shoot for me. Nikki has many super powers, but the greatest one is that she can read minds and knows exactly where to be at what moment to get shots that are so great, they make me want to throw my camera in the trash!

I’ve been waiting 4 years for the chance to take these photos of my sweet cousin, Jennifer. That’s how long it took for this little miracle baby girl to happen and I just can’t wait for her to be born next month! We shot these gorgeous maternity photos at one of my favorite locations in Southlake. After stressing for a while on what to wear, it turns out I had a dress already hanging in my closet that wasn’t even a maternity dress that looked perfect! Jennifer has great style so she was able to accessorize it perfectly and we were both so happy with how the look came together. So, ladies, if you’re stressing over what to wear for your maternity photos, think outside the box. You might already have something perfect in your closet or you might be able to find something perfect in the regular ladies section that doesn’t carry the crazy mark up that a lot of nice maternity dresses do. This way you can even wear the dress still after you have your baby!

Two years ago I met the Temple family when I got to photograph their daughter Jessica’s wedding. The entire family is just as sweet as they are fun, so I was ridiculously excited when I got the chance to photograph Stephanie’s wedding, too! Chris and Stephanie both share a love of sailing so it was only natural that they would have their wedding at Allure at Chandler’s Landing overlooking the lake and sail boats.

The Temple family likes to do a different take on the “first look”. Instead of it being a moment where the groom sees the bride for the first time, we arrange it so that there is a quiet moment when the Father of the Bride sees his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. Instant tears for me, every time! How sweet is this?!

This is one of my absolute favorite families to document and I was so excited to get to meet the newest member! Sweet Madeline made her debut in a hurry on April Fool’s Day and I got to meet her when she was just 4 days new. I love getting to photograph newborns at home with their families as everyone is getting to know each other and getting used to their new rolls in life. It’s such a magical, messy, wonderful time having a new baby in the house, and being invited into a family’s home during that time is really special to me. I left their house with a serious case of baby fever. Just look at her! How could I not?
